They will both decorate and protect - plants that repel mosquitoes in the country
In the evening, they do not allow you to calmly rest after a hard day, they interfere with sleep at night, and their bites bring severe discomfort. As important as mosquitoes are in the natural food chain, we humans only get in trouble from them. To protect your peace and body from encroachment, we advise you to plant plants that repel mosquitoes in the country. Such a non-trivial solution will help "kill two birds with one stone." Such green spaces, especially flowering ones, will decorate your site until the very frost. And thanks to their harsh aroma, they also ward off mosquitoes.
Plants that repel mosquitoes in the country
As you may have guessed, not all crops can be used against mosquitoes, but only those with a pungent aroma. Bloodsuckers, however, like many other insects, simply cannot stand such smells. They will fly around the side of the dacha where such plants grow.
Aromatic herbs
Most of these plants have medicinal properties, because they owe a strong aroma to a high content of essential oils. And we consider some species as weeds for their unpretentiousness and almost indestructibility.
See if there are any fragrant herbs in your area that can repel mosquitoes:
- sagebrush;
- spiraea;
- mint;
- Melissa;
- basil;
- sage;
- citronella.
"Anti-mosquito" flowers for flower beds
Among flower cultures, there are also many fragrant species, for example:
- pelargonium;
- lavender;
- ageratum;
- marigold.
If marigolds are grown outdoors, then you can plant lavender and pelargoniums both in flower beds and in pots. And then their flowering can be admired not only in summer.
Plants that repel mosquitoes in the country - shrubs with a pungent smell
Among the tree and shrub crops there are also species that are not to the liking of mosquitoes and other flying insects. And outwardly they look very decorative. And the flowering of some shrubs is radically different from the aroma of the foliage itself for the better.
From handicraft forms you can plant:
- Bird cherry. In spring, during flowering, it attracts bees with a thick and rich sweet scent. But the vegetable part doesn't smell so good.
- Castor oil plant. An incredibly beautiful bush with large blades-leaves looks like an outlandish palm tree. It can grow to a decent size.
- Black elderberry... An unpretentious bush with carved leaves can be used to create a whole hedge. The repulsive scent of foliage scares away all insects, although it looks gorgeous, especially in autumn, when the color changes.But what is evil for mosquitoes becomes good for a person, because black elderberries are edible and very useful.
