Top dressing of pepper and tomato seedlings with iodine and yeast

I grow seedlings for sale. I try to use folk methods for fertilization. The use of iodine and yeast solutions for these purposes is of interest. Tell me how to fertilize tomato and pepper seedlings with iodine and yeast?

Strong healthy seedlings are the key to a good harvest of tomatoes and peppers. To obtain high-quality seedlings, fertilizers are applied at the initial stage of their development. Despite the large selection of drugs, many gardeners prefer to use folk methods for this purpose. One of them is feeding tomato and pepper seedlings with iodine and yeast.

Perhaps one of the main benefits of using iodine and yeast is the availability of ingredients. Indeed, in every home there will be iodine in the first aid kit, and yeast in the kitchen. In addition, vegetables fertilized with organic matter have never been harmful when consumed.

What is their effect on seedlings? As a result of yeast feeding:

  • seedlings of peppers and tomatoes grow faster, and young bushes planted in the garden more actively form a green mass;
  • a powerful root system is developing;
  • seedlings are easier to pick and take root in the garden bed;
  • drought resistance increases;
  • crops more easily tolerate the effects of excessive moisture;
  • strengthens the immune system against various diseases.

Treating seedlings affected by the fungus with iodine solution will prevent further spread of the disease. In addition, iodine helps to increase the number of fruits on the bush and accelerates their ripening.

To prepare a yeast fertilizer, a concentrated solution is made, which is then diluted with water and poured over the seedlings. Both fresh and dry baker's yeast can be used:

  1. Dissolve 200 g of fresh yeast in a liter of warm water and let it brew for 3 hours. Dilute 1:10 before use.
  2. Pour two bags of dry yeast into a bucket of water (warm), add 1/3 tbsp. Sahara. Soak for about an hour. For root dressing, dilute 1 part of the solution in 5 parts of warm water.

Since yeast promotes the leaching of calcium from the soil, ash should first be added under the root of the seedlings or added directly to the solution.

For the prevention and treatment of diseases, pepper and tomato seedlings are watered with water with a small amount of iodine (2 drops per 1 liter). Some gardeners recommend adding another 100 ml of serum here.

It is also good to use iodine in combination with mineral fertilizers. To prepare top dressing in a bucket of water, dissolve 10 g of iodine, 10 g of phosphorus and 20 g of potassium. Water the pepper and tomato seedlings with a solution once every two weeks.
