How to save a violet from root rot?

violets have root rot Often, having received a beautiful blooming violet as a gift, flower growers notice that over time the plant begins to wither. It refuses to bloom and becomes lethargic. If the violet is properly cared for, the cause of the situation may be a plant disease such as root rot.

Violet root rot

A feature of the violet, thanks to which it is so loved, is its long flowering - up to 8 months a year. A healthy flower has succulent hard leaves and many inflorescences. A violet affected by rot will not bloom.

Root rot is a fungal disease of plants, manifested in the fact that the leaves begin to dry out, darken and fall off.

The petioles become soft and liquid, and the trunk is exposed. Excess moisture in the pot as a result of abundant watering contributes to the development of infection. If, at the same time, the drainage hole is small, the water constantly stagnates in the flowerpot. In this case, the disease quickly spreads to the entire plant and is capable of completely destroying it, if urgent measures are not taken.

How to save a violet from root rot?

First of all, you need to extract the flower violet from the pot and completely remove all damaged leaves. If the disease is at an early stage, you can try to save the entire flower.

To find out the extent of the lesion, you need to cut off the bush with a sharp knife - cut off its root system. Carefully examine the place of the cut - the presence of a brownish tint on it indicates that the rot has already reached the trunk. Cut off the petiole again. The purple shade of the cut is already a healthy petiole.

The remaining healthy part of the violet should be cleaned of large old leaves and allowed to dry.

Rooting the outlet

You can root the top of the plant:

  1. In water. Pour water into a plastic glass and put the violet there so that only the lower part of the outlet is immersed in the liquid, but not the leaves. It is necessary to ensure that the water does not evaporate completely, and is constant, otherwise the plant will dry out.
  2. In the soil. Plant the flower in a small pot with a loose substrate, in which there should be a hole for drainage. Put a layer of expanded clay at the bottom of the flowerpot so that the hole does not get clogged. Cover with a glass on top.

If the violet is rooted in a glass of water, you can plant it when the roots grow up to 1.5 cm.
