Advise how to propagate cyclamen? A beautiful bush was presented to me by a friend, and now everyone who comes to visit admires my crimson flowers and asks for them. For a couple of years it has grown well, but I have never transplanted it yet. I'm thinking of changing the pot, maybe at the same time it will be possible to divide the bush? It is big enough, it will definitely be enough for four divisions. Or cyclamens don't reproduce like that?

Cyclamen is wonderful for everyone: and it blooms in winter, when most plants are resting, and its inflorescences are unusual, like butterflies on long peduncles. And the winter handsome man is just a godsend for flower growers who want to get a lot of new bushes. There is nothing difficult and impossible in how to propagate cyclamen. Almost all methods existing in nature are suitable for this culture. It's just that some of them will give a quick result, for example, as when dividing an outlet. How to propagate cyclamen by seeds

It should be noted right away that seed reproduction is one of the longest and most troublesome methods. Long-term, because the seeds sprout for a long time, up to 2 months, and young bushes will bloom only after 2 years. And troublesome for the reason that crops will need to create greenhouse conditions for germination. In addition, you will need to transplant the plants, which are very delicate and easily damaged.

However, the seeding procedure itself is simple. Prepare a shallow transparent container, preferably with a lid. Fill it with light, loose soil and scatter the seeds without burying them. It will be enough to lightly sprinkle with a thin layer of earth. Now cover and wait. After the sprouts appear, the greenhouse can be opened, and the time will come to dive the seedlings in three months.

Interestingly, cyclamens are capable of self-pollination. So you don't have to look for seeds in stores if you already have a favorite variety at home. Just wait for the boll to mature and collect your planting material.

Leaf propagation

You can also get a new bush from a leaf, but only if you first germinate it. Germination takes place in water, and therein lies the problem. The succulent petioles often rot before the roots appear. To speed up the process, do not cut off, but tear off the leaf with your hands, trying to tear off the heel, part of the onion. When the roots have formed, plant the scion in the ground.
