Do-it-yourself swing from branches and rope - a budget option

do it yourself swing How nice it is to read a book on a warm summer evening, sitting on a comfortable wide swing. Given that ready-made structures are not cheap, many are interested in whether it is possible to make a swing with their own hands, but at the same time with minimal costs. And there is such an option. The most you need to buy is a strong cable to hang the swing. Are you already interested? Then we propose to study the instructions and make a place for rest on your own.

Materials for budget swing

Despite the fact that our swing will be environmentally friendly, wooden, you do not need to buy anything. Instead of planks and bars, ordinary branches will act as the main elements. So we take saw and we go not to the store, but to the forest belt. There we find and cut strong young branches a couple of centimeters in diameter. The only problem you may encounter is that the branches should be even, and of about the same thickness.

The number of branches depends on how large the swing will be. So, for a fairly wide and comfortable design, you will need approximately:

  • 8 branches - for the back:
  • 7-8 branches - for the seat;
  • 2 long branches - for side rails;
  • the same, but short, branches - to fix the seat on the sides;
  • a couple of branches for cutting connecting elements.

To make the swing beautiful and comfortable, we pre-process each branch. To do this, remove the bark from them and clean them to a smooth surface.

Now we cut several branches into short shafts of the same length, about 10-15 cm. They will be needed to be placed between the long elements.

Also, do not forget that you need to make two connections for fastening on both sides of the seat. Their length depends on the width of the bottom of the swing.

It remains only to drill holes in each workpiece. At the same time, in long branches for the back and seat, we make them at the ends. In short shanks - by passing a drill through them.

And finally, one of the main stages is assembly. We begin to assemble the swing, threading the cable one by one into the long branches, inserting between them short shafts drilled through. The handrails will be final. We put them on last, setting them obliquely, from the top of the back to the bottom of the seat. You can hang such a do-it-yourself swing either on a branch of a large tree, or by installing two supports.
