How to treat fruit trees and shrubs in spring?
Every gardener knows the truth - a good harvest and the health of growing crops should be taken care of in advance. With the arrival of spring, an important stage of work in the garden begins, on which the quantity and quality of fruits depends. To make fruit trees and shrubs less sick, as well as to prevent the appearance of pests, they must be treated with special preparations. As soon as the air temperature reaches stable values, you can start spraying the plantings.
Popular preparations for garden trees
There are many different products on the market today that are used in the garden. Therefore, it is not surprising that the pressing question arises before gardeners: how to process fruit trees and shrubs in the spring?
When choosing a drug, you need to take into account its purpose and the processing phase.
Based on practical application, drugs such as:
- Fundazol - used for primary treatment before kidney swelling as a prophylaxis scab.
- Neoron - for spraying after the buds are swollen. In order to disinfect trees from gall mites, they are also treated with a urea solution (500 g per 10 liters of water).
- Kinmix, Fury - for processing on the first leaves. Used as a preventive measure against the appearance of caterpillars. As a second prevention against scab, as well as to protect against powdery mildew, Skvor is used.
- Against leaf rollers, aphids and moths, trees are sprayed with Fury twice (with a break of 3 weeks).
- If the trunk is damaged by black crayfish, the bark is treated with copper sulfate (1% solution) and the damaged areas are sealed with garden pitch. Copper sulfate is also good against lichens and mosses.
The first treatment is carried out before the buds open. Before flowering, at least 3 sets should be done.
Spraying products for shrubs
Shrubs need less treatment. So, against gray rot and powdery mildew, as well as against fungal diseases of raspberries and gooseberries, they are sprayed with Fundazol or Topaz. From American powdery mildew on gooseberries Skor helps well, and the Commander for the red-headed aphid on currants.
Klinmiksol and Phosbecid are used to prevent leaf rollers, gall midges and sawflies, and metaldehyde is scattered between the bushes from slugs.
Traditional processing methods
A hot shower will help get rid of pests that have overwintered in the bushes. In early spring, while sap flow has not yet begun, the bushes are poured over with hot water. Spraying with a saline solution also gives a good effect (150 g of salt per bucket of water).
In the summer, to prevent the appearance of aphids, garden trees (and shrubs) are sprayed with infusion of potato tops. Add 2 parts of water to one part of the leaves, leave for 5 hours, and then soar for 40 minutes in a water bath.
An infusion of tomato leaves is used against caterpillars and leaf rollers. To do this, pour 5 liters of boiling water over 2 kg of deciduous mass and leave for 5 hours. After the specified time, the infusion is brought to a boil and cooled. Shrubs are treated with it 2 times with a break of 7 days.
