We grow parsley in an apartment - how to sow seeds correctly

parsley on the windowsill For real lovers of agriculture, the lack of a vegetable garden is not a hindrance. Even in a city apartment, they manage to grow not only indoor flowers, but also garden crops, starting with parsley. After all, who would refuse fresh juicy grass, absolutely natural, without any chemicals, in general, not what is on the shelves in stores. What can we say about the winter period, when a blizzard is raging outside the window, and the body insistently requires vitamins? For those who have just decided to try their hand, the material below may come in handy.

So where does it start growing parsley? First of all, you should stock up on a tray, seeds and the soil itself. The further process will seem familiar to flower growers, especially if they planted flowers for seedlings, but still there are some differences.

The choice of container and soil for planting

Which pot is better to take depends on the volume of plantings. For one or two people, a flowerpot is enough, but for a large family you will need something more capacious. For example, long plastic containers. It is convenient to put them on the windowsill, besides, not only parsley, but also other greens will fit freely there.

The container must necessarily have drainage holes.

As for the land, the easiest way is to purchase a ready-made substrate for vegetables or an ordinary flower in the store. It should be light and nutritious.

Features of seed preparation

The shell of the parsley seed consists of essential oils. They create a barrier to the emergence of sprouts, so the seeds must first be soaked in warm water and left for a day. Instead of soaking, you can put small seeds on a damp cloth. This will speed up germination.

For growing on a windowsill, it is better to use early ripening varieties of parsley.

Dip the soaked seeds for disinfection two hours before planting in a pink solution of potassium permanganate.

We sow parsley

Now you can start sowing:

  1. Put a layer of expanded clay into the selected container.
  2. Fill the pot with soil completely, without adding a little to the very top.
  3. Before planting, spray the soil well with a spray bottle.
  4. spread the seeds over the surface.
  5. Moisten again and sprinkle with a thin layer of earth (about 1 cm).
  6. Cover the container with plastic wrap.

To make the crops even and beautiful, with the help of a Chinese stick, you can make beds by pressing it a little into the ground.

For the first time, until the seeds hatch, put the pot in a dark place. When the seedlings germinate, remove the shelter and, if necessary, thin them in such a way that there is a gap of 4 cm between the bushes. You can now grow parsley on a light windowsill, watering every other day.
