We grow indoor cypress, creating comfortable conditions for it

indoor cypress The benefits of conifers have long been known, but not all of them are able to live at home. But indoor cypress feels quite comfortable in the room, filling it with a fresh aroma. What is it and how to grow it indoors? Let's figure it out.

What does indoor cypress look like?

Externally, the home cypress is a compact, abundantly branching bush with a pyramid or rhombus-shaped crown. The central trunk becomes lignified over time, and vertical branches are attached to it from all sides. They are covered with lush foliage, the color of which can be light green, dark green or with a bluish tint.

At home, the most unpretentious and "convenient" types of cypress are grown, which in nature do not grow more than 4 m. Among them are the Kashmir and evergreen cypresses.

Some types of indoor cypress do not smell like pine needles, but lemon.

Indoor cypress: the secrets of growing in the house

First of all, if you decide to get this plant for yourself, you should find a suitable place for it. Cypress is picky about light and grows best in good lighting. However, you cannot put the tub in direct sunlight - the deciduous cap will quickly begin to turn yellow and dry out.

Also, the culture is very fond of water, so it is necessary to water the bush regularly. It is important not to allow the soil to dry out completely, but at the same time, there should be no swamp in the pot. With an excess of moisture, especially if there are no drainage holes, and its excess does not go anywhere, the roots rot.

Dry air is highly undesirable for cypress. Again, foliage begins to dry out under these conditions. Therefore, it is recommended to spray the plant daily.

If it so happens that the cypress has stood in the sun and began to dry out, you just need to cut the shoots to a living bud. The plant tolerates pruning well and grows back quickly. Soon, several new ones will flaunt at the site of the cut branch.

You can feed indoor cypress, but without fanaticism, so that the compact tree does not turn into a giant. Florists recommend using one of the feeding options, using them only in the spring and summer:

  • make special complexes for conifers twice a month;
  • fertilize with the same frequency with conventional preparations for indoor plants, but with a concentration of half.

In spring, the crown of a cypress can be trimmed to any shape. At the same time, bushes are transplanted, but without destroying the earthen coma. So the plants tolerate the procedure better and the roots are not injured.
