Some people believe that the larger and heavier the tuber, the more beautiful the flower will be. However, the real value of a product lies in completely different characteristics. When buying planting material, pay attention to:

1. The condition of the root neck. It shouldn't be rotten. If the cut is black or brown, it means that rotting has begun in it during the storage period.
2. Shortened shoots. The dense as well as resilient parts of the roots will give healthy stems and blooms.
3. The integrity of the tubers. Often, the growths are kept on thin hairs, which will soon simply disappear. Therefore, you should not take into account their number.
4. The presence of kidneys. This is especially true when the purchase is made in April. Mid-spring is the time for plants to wake up. The absence of such erupted sprouts indicates that the culture is not suitable for growing.

Rhizomes with round rather than oval formations are perfectly stored. They are surprisingly compact and easily tolerate wintering.

Tubers are well suited for planting dahlias with a high basal neck. Otherwise, if it gets into wet ground, the short shoot will simply start to rot.

Pruning is an important step in planting

Sometimes the hand does not rise to cut off a good, as it seems, fleshy tuber. In fact, it's just rubbish.
