Types of plants for hedges
In order to protect your site, it is not necessary to build a fence from slate or netting. A hedge will not only be a fence, but also a great decoration for your garden. Plants in a hedge can be combined to create a unique design.
For example, thuja often play the role of columns, and flowering shrubs make up the bulk of the hedge, which makes the green wall look beautiful in spring during the flowering period. Shrubs with high vigor are considered the most suitable for the formation of hedges, such as:
- vesicle;
- purple willow;
- chubushnik.
All these plants recover quickly after pruning and actively form new lateral shoots. This allows them to be planted at a greater distance from each other than thuja, and with close planting of shrubs to get a dense green wall.
Bubble
Bubbles is a shrub with decorative foliage, unpretentious to the conditions of keeping. Its flowers are small, white or yellowish, depending on the variety. A feature of this plant is the color of its foliage.
The branches of the Luteus variety are covered with light green, almost yellow leaves, which resemble viburnum leaves in shape. The "Red Baron" cultivar is a shrub with dark purple or rich burgundy foliage, depending on the planting site. There are varieties with green leaves. By combining different varieties of vesicle, you can create interesting compositions.
Bubbles can be cuttings. Buy several varieties of this shrub and plant them and then multiply them. This way you can save money.
Purple willow
The purple willow is a subspecies of the common willow. Unlike a tree, this plant reaches only 2 m in height, therefore it is considered a shrub. There are many varieties of purple willow.
The most suitable for regions with a cold climate is the "Mayak" variety. This variety responds positively to pruning, quickly recovers after being damaged by pests and fungal diseases. "Mayak" is a variety of the Ural selection, therefore it tolerates prolonged frosts up to -22ABOUTFROM.
In general, all purple willows are suitable for hedges. These shrubs can be planted in loam or virgin soil. They take root well in heavy soils.
Chubushnik
Chubushnik is a relative of jasmine. It is a shrub 1.5m high. It is worth planting it in a hedge because of the beautiful white or pink flowers with a strong aroma, which bloom in late May - early June, depending on the variety.
Even if you do not plan to make a chubushnik part of a hedge, you need to cut it regularly. It grows shapelessly, and without a haircut it will quickly lose its decorative effect.
