The breeders were given the task of bringing out a shrub, devoid of thorns, with a high yield, and bearing large berries with currant flavor. The result is a beautiful, spreading, frost-resistant plant with dark green leaves, resistant to pests and diseases. Unfortunately, the berries turned out to be smaller than those of currants, and the yield is rather low. Fruiting clusters grow small and bear about 5 berries.
Yoshta has bright yellow flowers that are capable of self-pollination. The berries of the plant are black-purple in color, practically odorless, with a rather sour taste. An indisputable advantage is the rapid appearance of the crop - already in the second year after planting, the shrub begins to bear fruit.
Yoshta berries do not fall to the ground, and ripening is uneven. This allows harvesting fresh fruits for a long time.

The variety was developed in the UK. In appearance, it is more like a currant, although the color of the leaves is closer to the gooseberry. Flowering begins in the third week of April and lasts until early May. Ripening of berries usually occurs within two months. Fruits are oval with a shiny skin. Unlike other types of yoshta, the yohini fruit tastes unusually sweet. The weight of one berry is about 3 grams. The variety is famous for its high yield - up to 10 kg can be harvested from a bush. Yohini is not very susceptible to diseases and pests.
Joshta Krona
The variety was created by breeders from northern Sweden. It is an upright shrub, reaching a diameter of 1.5 meters. The plant has a low yield - no more than 3 kg of fruits can be harvested from one bush. Small berries with excellent taste. They resemble currants in appearance. In addition, they are quite densely located on the branch, which complicates the collection process. Therefore, the bush is often planted on the site solely for decorative reasons. Among the advantages are resistance to frost and drought. Also, the plant is resistant to diseases and insects.

Other plant species

After ripening, the berries do not fall off the branches. In the north, the variety brings less harvest, but there it is successfully used for landscaping areas.
- Rekst. The only variety that was bred in Russia, so it is ideal for growing in regions with harsh winters. Reaches a height of 1.5 meters, has a high yield - more than 5 kg per bush. Berries are black, oval, weighing up to 3 grams. The small size is compensated by the excellent taste. The variety is resistant to major diseases and pests, tolerates cold well.
