Simple sowing of coriander is straightforward.

Sowing coriander in open ground is carried out in late April or early May, since the spice is a frost-resistant crop. Because of its specific smell, cilantro has not won the sympathy of many gardeners. Yet this is not a reason not to plant it. If you don't want to use herbs in cooking, then you can only collect seeds. Surprisingly, they have a wonderful spicy aroma. Traditionally, grains are added to marinades when salting sea fish.

Most often, bought seeds are used, because the seasoning grows as a volunteer. Nevertheless, if you closely observe it, you can collect your own planting material. As soon as the balls acquire a brown tint, but have not yet had time to burst, they are torn off.

Sowing coriander in the country

A herbaceous plant is not demanding on the choice of soil. It grows well on both acidic and alkaline soils. Still, it is not advisable to choose flooded areas. To get an early harvest, it is grown in greenhouses. The process begins at the end of February. In such conditions, farmers are closely watching so that the greenery does not overgrow. At the summer cottage, sowing coriander is carried out in this way:

  • abundantly moisturize the loosened soil;
  • make grooves at a distance of 25 cm and a depth of 5 cm;
  • seeds are not sown too thickly (for the formation of fluffy bushes, the interval is 10 cm);
  • grooves fall asleep, and then all this is compacted;
  • water the garden to speed up the root formation process.

An amazing option for planting is loam or slightly acidic soil. To get a stunning result, you should dig up the area in the fall, adding a sufficient amount of humus.

For a fragrant seasoning in the garden, a place with good lighting is selected. Poor soil is fed (before planting) with potassium or superphosphate in a ratio of 20 g per 1 m². At the same time, gardeners emphasize that several bushes must be left for the reproduction of the culture, that is, for the formation of seeds.

Care or further actions of the gardener

There is no need to provide supernatural care to cilantro. It is only important to water the garden bed as the soil dries. Nevertheless, weeds actively grow along with it, which drown out the culture with their root system. In this regard, they should be removed in time. Moreover, periodic loosening of the soil saturates the plant with oxygen.

It is worth remembering that if you do not thin out the rows, then the leaves of the seasoning become much smaller. Cutting greens is advised before the flowering process begins.

So, they are engaged in sowing coriander to get fragrant cilantro or fragrant grains. In the first case, seeds can be planted in the winter or in a greenhouse, and in the second, at the end of spring. Then the spice will be a regular on the everyday table.
