Planting a thuja seedling in open ground

planting a seedling on a plot Tui are beautiful conifers. They are planted on the site in order to enjoy the pine scent. Thuja grows up to 9 meters in height, therefore it protects the site well from the wind. Trees are used to form hedges. In order for the thuja to quickly begin at a new planting site, it is necessary to select the correct soil composition and make a deep planting hole.

Sapling selection

A seedling with a closed root system will better take root at a new planting site, so you need to purchase it in a nursery. Ask the seller how the seedling was grown. The varietal characteristics of the thuja are preserved only if the seedling is grown from a cuttings. Thuja grown from seeds do not retain the properties of the mother tree. A high-quality seedling must have at least three internodes, and its trunk must be at least 30 cm high.

Soil composition and preparation of the planting pit

Thuja needs light, fertile soil for good growth. Sandy loam soil with the addition of sod land and mineral fertilizers... It is necessary to add nitroammofosku and complex mineral fertilizer to the soil mixture. At the landing site, a planting hole is dug with a depth and diameter of 50 cm. It is necessary to pour drainage at the bottom of the hole. Broken bricks, pebbles or small stones can be used. Then sand is poured onto the drainage layer for additional drainage of water. In total, the thickness of the drainage layer should be 10 cm. 20 cm of soil mixture is poured into the planting pit, the soil is well spilled. When the soil is dry, it is watered again. Such moisture is needed for better survival of the thuja root system.

Water the soil a second time with purple potassium permanganate solution. To warm the ground, the solution must be hot. After the water is absorbed into the soil, it will be possible to plant the thuja in the open ground.

The seedling is placed in a planting hole so that the root collar of the tree is at the level of the soil. Then the pit is covered with soil mixture. After planting, the thuja seedling must be mulched. Spruce branches, fallen leaves or sawdust are suitable for this.

After planting the thuja in open ground, the tree does not need to be watered. Instead of watering, irrigate and spray the plant regularly. For good development and rapid growth of the root system of the seedling, the soil of the trunk circle is loosened from time to time, but not deeper than 10 cm, otherwise there is a risk of damaging the roots.
