How to Grow Gardenia from Seeds?
Gardenia is an evergreen bush-shaped plant. A beautiful leafy hat in a deep green color will not leave anyone indifferent. And when the time of flowering comes, this beauty can even outshine a rose. Lush white flowers with an intoxicating jasmine scent make her the queen on the windowsill. 
Like a real queen gardenia is rated just as high. However, if you are patient, you can try growing your gardenia from seed. This business is somewhat troublesome, since the flower has a capricious character and is demanding in its care.
Selecting seeds and soil for gardenia
In order to get young seedlings, you need to choose the right soil and purchase high-quality seeds. It is better to buy seeds in specialized flower shops. This way you can be sure that the seeds will be fresh and stored correctly.
Gardenia grows well only on loose and acidic soil. The plant belongs to the Madder family, for which there is a special substrate. They also buy it in the store. Some growers claim that you can grow a flower using a soil mixture for azaleas.
Sowing gardenia seeds for seedlings
It is better to take a sufficiently wide, but not deep container for seedlings. At the bottom, be sure to lay out a layer of expanded clay, which will serve as drainage. Pour earth on top. Place the seeds carefully on the surface without pressing them. You can sprinkle it a little with earth, but do not get carried away.
Seeds do not need pre-soaking, they have good germination. It is enough to spray the soil well after sowing.
Cover the pot with the sown seeds with foil and place on a warm, well-lit windowsill. Seedlings will begin to appear by the beginning of the fourth week after sowing. Then the pot can be rearranged on the eastern windowsill, where there is a little less light.
Gardenia seedlings care
After the seedlings get stronger, they can be dived into separate containers. The soil is used the same as for sowing seeds. Pick up pots for seedlings with a diameter of no more than 7 cm. The planted sprouts still need greenhouse conditions, so each should be covered with a cut plastic bottle.
Periodically, the bottle is removed and the bushes are ventilated. Instead of watering, spray the soil well. The second transplant is done when the seedlings begin to release new leaves. The capacity of the pots should be 2 cm larger. After transplanting, the bushes can be fed with fertilizer for Azaleas. The solution is made not as saturated as for adult plants.
