Seeing the large leaves of a dollar tree from afar, it is not immediately possible to understand that it is real. Tall stems with tough feathery leaves attract attention with a rich dark green color. Dense and shiny, they seem to be plastic, but from this they do not lose their decorative effect. Recently, zamioculcas (this is the name of this flower) can increasingly be found in offices and homes. It differs from other indoor plants in its special shape, because it does not have a trunk and branches as such. The bush consists of tall fleshy stems (they are also leaves), dissected into separate, rather large, leaves. The root system is presented in the form of a tuber overgrown with roots. Not surprisingly, many are interested in the question of how to propagate a dollar tree. After all, it does not give any shoots or seeds. No, zamioculcas can bloom, but very rarely, even in natural conditions. In addition, when grown at home, seeds are not tied, including with artificial pollination. What remains? And there is not so little left - vegetative reproduction. By the way, this is exactly how zamioculcas reproduces in natural conditions. This is the most affordable way to get a new bush, although you will have to wait decently too.

Whichever method is used, the dollar tree begins to grow deciduous only after it has formed a tuber. In the case of cuttings, it may take several months before the cuttings begin to grow. Often during this time, the aerial part of the plant dies off even before the young stems are formed.

It is better to start grafting in early spring, while rooting can be done both in water and immediately in substrate. For this, cuttings obtained from:
- A whole leaf branch. It is cut at the base, the lower leaves are removed and the branch is rooted.
- Fragment of a leaf branch. The stem is cut into pieces so that at least a couple of feather leaves remain on each.
- A fragment of the stem. Leaf feathers are cut from the fleshy stem, and the stem itself is divided into segments up to 8 cm long. Stem cuttings, unlike others, are rooted "standing", having previously cut the skin shallowly.
- A separate piece of paper. Healthy small leaves are cut, dried and rooted in light soil in a greenhouse.
Rooting an entire branch is one of the fastest ways. The larger the cutting, the faster it will grow a tuber, and the plant will begin to develop above the soil. But individual leaves, in case of successful rooting, will give 3 new leaves per year, and this is at best.
Reproduction by division: when can tubers be divided?
Although the dollar tree grows rather slowly, its root system is powerful. Tubers eventually release many plump roots, plus the flower grows new nodules. As a result, the plant becomes cramped in the pot and needs replanting.If the bush is large and dense, reproduction can be combined with this procedure by dividing the mother flower into parts. You need to divide it into tubers so that at least one is at each delenka, carefully untangling the roots.
For division, it is better to use adult specimens that have reached a height of at least 50 cm and have several tubers. In “single-tuberous” zamiokulcas, it is not worth dividing (cutting in half) the only tuber - you can even lose the flower altogether.
