Manufacturing the frame of the gate according to the drawing

A properly made metal wicket will be strong and durable. In order to make a wicket to a ready-made car gate, it is necessary to use drawings, find out the distance between the support posts of the fence and take into account the distance between the frame of the wicket and the car gate. Otherwise, after installing the wicket, there will be large gaps and gaps between the fence and the frame.

The frame of the wicket is welded from a metal profile 50X50 mm. It is very important that the surface on which the welding work is carried out is absolutely flat.

For welding the frame of the wicket, you can use a wooden blank for the car gate. It is necessary to observe safety precautions and cover the workpiece with a fireproof impregnation. Otherwise, the wooden beam may catch fire from sparks when welding the gate frame.

Wicket dimensions

The height of the wicket must be equal to the height of the fence. To make the frame, you need to cut four pieces of the metal profile. The width of the frame should be 80 cm. This width is quite enough for a comfortable passage for an adult.

The frame frame is welded at right angles to make the gate even. To check the degree standard and align the angle, use:

• square;
• level;
• hammer.

In order to align the metal profile, do not weld it around the perimeter immediately.

First, the profile is welded with only a few beads of welding. Then the degree measure of the angle is measured with a square and, if necessary, the section of the profile is leveled with a hammer. The degree measure of the angle is measured again and the structure is welded along the perimeter.

Making a case for a lock

In order to embed a lock into a metal gate, you need to make a box for it. For this, two horizontal cuts are made in the case. A door lock is inserted into these slots, it is fixed with metal rivets.

Also, a "p" -shaped piece is welded to the wicket body, which should cover the side surface of the lock. End plates are screwed to the lock.

When the frame of the wicket is ready, the door hinges are screwed to it. In order to comfortably open the wicket, it is necessary to take into account the distance between the gate and the frame. It should be about 3 mm.

The door hinges are fixed to the gate by welding. After the wicket frame is installed, it is necessary to sheathe it with slate or metal sheets.
