Making a flower pot from cement

flower pot made of cement After repairs, everyone in the house has containers for paint, plaster or any other building material. Using them, you can make a decorative pot for outdoor flowers.

A creative flowerpot can be decorated like a tree stump if it emulates the structure of the tree bark. In order to make such a pot, it is necessary to prepare a cement mortar. In addition to the mortar, you will need a construction mesh, thanks to which the cement adheres well to the plastic container.

If you do not wrap the container with a mesh, then the cement can chip off, and the pot will need to be restored. In order for the cement solution to be strong, alabaster must be added to it.

Grout preparation and container preparation

To prepare the cement mortar, mix:

  • four pieces of sand;
  • two parts of cement;
  • one piece of alabaster.

All components are mixed well, and then warm water is added to them. The cement solution should not turn out to be liquid, it is diluted to a state of wet clay.

In order for the solution to adhere to the plastic container, it is wrapped with a construction mesh. The mesh is fixed on the base of the pot with double-sided tape.

Glue the entire outer surface of the base of the future pot with double-sided tape, and then glue the mesh onto the tape. In no case should you do the opposite, otherwise cracks will go along the cement base.

Making a pot

A cement mortar is applied to the prepared container. The solution layer over the entire surface of the container is 1 cm.On request, you can make a side potby increasing the layer of cement mortar on the border to 3 cm.

In order to emulate the structure of the tree, stripes are made around the perimeter of the pot with a screwdriver, as on the bark of a tree. The stripes are 0.5 cm deep.

Too often, such stripes are not necessary, as cracks can go through the pot. On a 10 liter pot, the optimal distance between the stripes is 3 cm. The bottle caps are pressed into the bottom of the pot, which will serve as the legs of the flowerpot.

Use a wide tray to immerse the feet in the cement to the same depth.

The finished base of the pot is covered with a primer and then painted. You can use paint of any color, but to make the pot look like a real stump, it is better to cover it with brown color, and paint the stripes with gold paint.

When the paint dries, you can fill the pot with soil and plant flowers. In such a pot, a boxwood bush or other green plant will look great.
