Red caviar: how to choose a good quality product

Red caviar Red caviar in cans, caviar in glass containers, cheap or expensive - before the holidays there is a wide selection of this delicacy on the shelves in stores. Today there are many producers of red caviar. Among them there are responsible brands that care about their reputation and the health of consumers. Nevertheless, there are also unscrupulous firms that, in pursuit of an easy ruble, are trying to slip us a cheap fake. How not to be mistaken and choose real red caviar? After all, this is exactly the case when savings can cost health.

Looking at the shelf with numerous jars, first of all, you need to pay attention to the following points:

  • containers in which caviar is sold;
  • shelf life;
  • taste qualities.

Which is better - glass or tin?

When choosing, preference should be given to red caviar, packaged in glass jars. Why? The answer is obvious - in such a container you can clearly see what it was filled with. High quality caviar red should look like this:

  • whole eggs;
  • there is no excess liquid in the jar.

As for the tin container, it is almost impossible to predict what is inside, since nothing is visible.

Perhaps the only way to check the quality of canned caviar is to shake the jar itself. If you hear the characteristic gurgle of liquid, it's best to leave it on the shelf. Consequently, there is more water than caviar.

Expiration date - how is it knocked out?

It goes without saying that any fish products must be carefully checked. First of all, it concerns the terms during which they can be stored and eaten. Where to find the cherished numbers? Everything is clear with glass containers: usually the inscription is made directly on the label or on top, on the lid. If you do decide to purchase canned food, then you should be careful.

The numbers must be convex. If they are pressed into the lid, this is a fake.

Real red caviar or artificial?

In addition to natural red caviar obtained from certain types of fish, you can often find an artificial product in stores. It has nothing to do with fish, because it is made from protein products. Chicken eggs, milk, gelatin lends itself to high temperatures. As a result, the mass folds into separate balls, very similar to caviar. They are quite edible, but the problem is that the price of such a “delicacy” is several times lower than real caviar. This is what manufacturers use, playing on the visual deception of buyers in their favor.

If the product is sold by weight, you can tell whether it is artificial or real caviar by trying it. Bitter aftertaste indicates that urotropine has been added to the product. It is a strong antiseptic agent used as a preservative in the manufacture of artificial caviar. Having tasted such a delicacy, you can significantly harm the microflora of your stomach.

Summing up, there is only one piece of advice: be careful. Always choose caviar only from trusted and reputable manufacturers. Better to overpay a little, but have fun crunching eggs and stay healthy.
