inflorescence cap

The bush will appeal to connoisseurs of compact plants. Not tall, but with large velvety dark green leaves, gracefully curled down. During the flowering period, a whole cap of buds on short pedicels rises above the deciduous rosette. Thanks to this impression and their main red color, the variety got its name.

Terry flowers are not just red, but with several shades that smoothly merge into each other. The throat itself is white, decorated with small crimson specks. From the throat to the edge of the petals, the color begins to change. In the center it is dark red, then brightens. The edging of the petals is completely crimson - pink.

The variety is not just terry - the petals are slightly corrugated at the edges, which gives them a special charm.

Advantages and Disadvantages of Red Riding Hood

pros and cons of the varietyMany growers, especially beginners, believe that most varieties gloxinia are very similar to each other. But this is only at first glance, and true lovers of these bright beauties know exactly what the highlight of each is.

Gloxinia Little Red Riding Hood is also individual and has many advantages, among which it is worth noting:

  • compact size of the bush, which, moreover, practically does not stretch;
  • firmness of buds and color - they last a long time, do not dry out, and retaining bright colors;
  • the structure of flowers, wide open, with a good view of the "throat".

On the downside, some would like to see larger inflorescences. However, this is not such a "minus", given that the bush itself is not particularly powerful. But when several flowers bloom above the leaves, it seems that this is one big one.
