The plant is native to South Africa. The climate of that area is contrasting: dry weather is abruptly replaced by prolonged rainy seasons. In this regard, the flowerpot has periods of rest that help it recover. Clivia throws out its flowering only at the age of 5-6 years.
To enjoy the beautiful view of orange blossoms twice a year, it is important to create a piece vacation for her:
- The first is December and January. During these months, the culture is transferred to dry rations and is practically not watered. When the soil is so dry that it turns into dust, then it is practiced to add a little water. Resume power when a peduncle appears in the center of the outlet.
- The second is after the first flowering or in July and August. As soon as the beauty begins to dry up and seed boxes are formed on the brushes, the peduncle is bent. Once it is completely dry in this position, it is cut off at the very base. During these two months it is not watered.
Many try to create special conditions for the second period of rest. They put the pot in partial shade, lower the air temperature and monitor the lighting. Although some do not do this, for them clivia survives everything successfully.
The powerful root system of the plant is able to retain a sufficient amount of moisture. Because of this, the culture is not flooded so that it does not start to rot. Subject to the above rules, flowers will appear by September.
During transplantation of a seedling, bone meal is added to the soil, which is sold in veterinary pharmacies. Two tablespoons will be enough for a luxurious flowering clivia. As a result, you don't have to make additional fertilizers.
