Officially, the variety has been listed in the State Register since 1947. But it was obtained much earlier, back in 1862, and by accidental pollination. Cherry owes its name to a certain gardener A. Dyber, who noticed and described it.

The tree itself is a strong-growing tree and can reach more than 6 m in height. The crown is wide, round, dense as a result of strong branching of the shoots. Leaves of a characteristic oval shape with a pointed tip.

The variety is intended for cultivation only in the southern regions, since it does not have good winter hardiness. Cherry is also demanding on moisture, therefore, it suffers without watering during drought. At the same time, waterlogging is also dangerous for her and ends with diseases, especially in rainy spring and summer. The resistance to diseases in the old variety is average and one cannot do without preventive treatments.

Taste characteristics and yield

The Dyber variety belongs to medium late. Cherry blooms closer to the beginning of April, and begins to bear fruit only from the fifth year of life. The crop ripens in late June or early July. The berries are large, weighing up to 7 g, in the shape of a wide heart with a clearly visible seam. The skin is dark red, almost black, the pulp is also dark, tender and sweet in taste, the juiciness is average. The stone is large, it separates poorly.
