Astilba Gloria - a spectacular and unpretentious beauty for your garden
Among the flowering herbaceous shrubs, astilba Gloria stands out. It is effective and decorative in everything, from lush carved foliage to huge dense inflorescences. In addition, the plant has an unpretentious and persistent character. Penumbra for him is a favorite place, the flower is not picky about the soil and winters well. Needless to say, astilba is gradually becoming more and more popular with gardeners. It is easy to grow it, it is easy to care for the bush, and for this the bush will reward with bright and abundant flowering.

This culture appeared thanks to the painstaking work of the researcher and breeder G. Arends. He received more than 80 hybrid plant varieties, which are separated into a separate group and are called that - Arends astilbe. Among them is the beautiful Gloria, delighting with lush inflorescences. It grows as a completely compact bush, the height of which does not exceed 70 cm. In the middle of summer, high and lush diamond-shaped peduncles begin to open above it.
Depending on the color of the flowers, two types of Gloria are grown, the name of which reflects the color of the buds:
- Purpurea. Peduncles are high, up to 90 cm. Dense inflorescences reach a height of 20 cm with a diameter of 10 cm. The color is pink-purple. The leaves are colored green with a red tint.
- Weiss. The height of the peduncle can reach 25 cm with a diameter of up to 12 cm. The first week of flowering, the inflorescences are striking with a dazzling snow-white color. Gradually, the flowers turn yellow and become creamy yellow. The leaves are initially light green, but as they grow, they darken and acquire a brownish border and brown blotches.
Astilbe bloom no more than 3 weeks and by August the inflorescences die off. But the bushes do not lose their decorative effect and continue to decorate the garden with chic carved foliage.
Astilba Gloria - the secrets of growing
Perhaps the perennial has only one preference - moist soil. If the composition of the soil does not really matter to her, then the plant will not survive without water. It is better to plant in a semi-shady place, so that at the height of a summer day, the astilbe is protected from direct rays. It is not for nothing that the flower is called a plant of a shady garden, because even the north side is quite comfortable for it.
Caring for Gloria is simple, you just need to water it regularly, loosen the soil under the bush and remove dry inflorescences. In summer, it is advisable to feed with a mineral complex once a month. And one more thing: the ground under the bush follows well mulch... This will help to retain moisture longer, and will also cover new buds emerging at the top of the rhizome. But astilbe winters without problems and does not need shelter. Another advantage of culture is that it rarely gets sick and is almost not damaged by pests.
